This year for the first time, the gamescom award 2012, the most coveted prize in the European games industry, will once again increase its range and significance following substantial expansion. It will feature a larger jury with 20 editors-in-chief and personalities from leading national and international gaming media presenting the gamescom awards 2012 in at least eight different categories for the first time. Among others, the jury will be made up of Christian Nutt (Gamasutra), John Gaudiosi (Hollywood Reporter), Peer Schneider (IGN) and Tony Mott (EDGE Magazine), all from the United States, as well as Guy Cocker (GameSpot UK), Martin Robinson (Eurogamer) and Michael French, editor in chief of Europe’s leading B2B media MCV and Develop (all UK). Stefan Hohenwarter (gamingXP), Fréderic Fau (jeuxvideo.com) and Pierpaolo Greco (multiplayer.it) will be participating from Austria, France and Italy respectively. In addition to international media personalities, Germany’s leaders in gaming media will also be part of the 2012 jury, including Petra Fröhlich (Computec), Harald Hesse (Gamesmarkt), Michael Trier (IDG) Christian Bigge (Computerbild.de) and Moses Grohé (GEE). From the TV segment, Andreas Garbe (ZDF) and Fabian Käufer, head of the MTV Game One service, will give the jury added flavour. Jens Quentin (Gameswelt), Joachim Hesse (spieletipps.de) and Rene Meyer (Schreibfabrik) will complete the body.
This year Bernhard Schneider (Drogerie Müller) and Sven Wedig (4U2Play) will also be on the jury as representatives of stationary and digital retailers. Franko Fischer, Communications Manager for gamescom: “The 2012 jury for the gamescom award is a regular who’s who of gaming journalists. We are pleased that the new concept has been so well accepted both nationally and internationally. That’s something we didn’t anticipate.”
