New Games

Halo fans were probably distressed at the end of Halo 3 where the survival of Master Chief was questionable at best. Fret no more! Master Chief is coming back in Halo 4! Additionally, expect some amazing gameplay from the sequels Tomb Raider, Forza Horizon, Dance Central 3, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Most of these games will be out by the fall.

Of course, there are new games as well! There is an awesome looking South Park RPG as well as Fable: The Journey, which is a full-on Kinect game. Speaking of the Kinect, many of the upcoming games will feature Kinect voice controls. For example, in FIFA 13, you can make tactical calls aloud without interrupting your gameplay! Kinect voice control will also be in Madden NFL 13and the new Splinter Cell game.

New Features

Microsoft is coming out with lots of cool features for the Xbox and beyond. They have partnered up with Nickelodeon, Paramount, Machinima, and Univision to bring more non-gaming entertainment to your living room. Additionally, Watch ESPN will now have 24/7 programming and will include live games and highlights from the NBA and NHL. You can even watch multiple games at the same time with split screen!

Finally, Microsoft has been working on a new app for tablets and smartphones, called SmartGlass. You can use this app along side TV shows and video games to get more information on the fly. For example, you can get a maps or extra fiction. SmartGlass will also work with the Xbox dashboard and will allow you to surf the internet on your TV with the tablet.

“2012 is a landmark year for Xbox,” saidPhil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios. “This year, we’re delivering an incredible lineup of games with many of the most-anticipated exclusives, such as ‘Halo 4,’ ‘Forza Horizon’ and ‘Fable: The Journey,’ and brand-new franchises, such as ‘Wreckateer’and ‘Lococycle.’ We’re also the best place to experience blockbusters such as ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II.’ Our message is simple: Whether it’s one of our beloved franchises or something totally new, there’s only one place to find them all — Xbox 360.”
